815 at Katowice Rynek

Katowice is the centre for an extensive system of standard gauge tram lines running between various communities in the Silesia Basin. The 30 tram lines are electrified at 600 volts. It is part of the Municipal Transport Union of the Upper Silesian Industrial District [KZK GOP].
Tram 815 is an Alstom 116Nd built in September 2001. It is a 6-axle 3-section articulated vehicle powered by 4 motors each rated at 120 kW for a total rating of 480 kW, 643 hp and has a top speed of 80 km/h, 50 mph.

Tram 815 with a southbound 16 at Katowice Rynek on Friday, June 24th, 2005. Rynek, meaning marketplace, is a major junction with routes 16, 20, 33 & 41 running north-south, 7, 15, 36 & 37 east-west, 11 & 13 running west-north and 14 & 23 running east-north.
