There were 145 locomotives built from 1968 by Škoda originally classed as S499.0 for the Czechoslovakian Railway and about three-quarters of the class were transferred to the Slovak Railway. These Bo-Bo locomotives are rated a 3080 kW, 4130 hp and have a top speed of 120 km/h, 74 mph. "2" in the first position of the class number indicates a 25,000 volt AC locomotive. |
