SR 4-6-2 21C123 "Blackmore Vale" Built Brighton 1946

A 3 cylinder pacific (4-6-2) with chain driven valve gear. The basis of the numbering system was 2 leading axles, 1 trailing, C or 3 coupled, the 23rd locomotive in the 100 ( light) series. This engine became 34023 in the British Railway 1948 nationalised renumbering scheme, power classification 7P5FA and remained in service until 1967. Immediately on withdrawal it was purchased by the Bulleid Society

Bulleid Pacific 21C123 makes an explosive departure from the Bluebell Railway's Sheffield Park Station in June 1976. It was the first trip of the morning and the cylinder drain cocks are left open for a longer time so that any water in the 3 cylinders will be exhausted.

The Bluebell Railway, Sussex, England

Bluebell Railway. LBSCR Terrier 0-6-0T #55 "Stepney" propels an ex-SECR brake van towards Horsted Keynes on September 23rd, 2000. This working is the Bluebell's popular Footplate Firing days, where enthusiasts are taught to fire & drive steam locomotives.

3' Narrow Gauge line between Durango & Silverton, Colorado

Ex-Denver & Rio Grande Western class K-28 #473 passes the pond at the quarry near Hermosa, CO in June 1997.

K-28 #473 rounds a curve as it heads north from Durango with the first train of the day on June 14, 1997.

473-b

#473 on a railfan runpast at the 9th National Narrow Gauge Convention in Sept 1989. This trip marked 473's return to service following the roundhouse fire. 473 had been the most heavily damaged engine.

in the British West Midlands

2-6-0 Number 46443 prepares to leave Eardington Halt in this 1974 shot. When the Severn Valley extended the railway line south of Hampton Loade, this halt was closed and has become the track maintenance base for the line

Ex-Great Western (Britain) 0-6-0T 5764 moves around the shed as two enginemen cross the sleeper crossing.

GWR 0-6-0PT 5764 crosses Victoria Bridge over the Severn River in June 1974 with a restored GWR passenger train.
