Large Station Nameboard at Eastbourne, Sussex

Eastbourne Station Running In Board

Stations were fitted with large signs on the ends of the platform to advise travellers of the name of the station that they were entering.

In this 1969 view, we see the green and white sign on Eastbourne's #1 & #2 platform. Green and white were the British Railways Southern Region corporate colours used from 1948 nationalization until the black and white signs of the BR double-arrow era. in the early 1970s.
