Southern Region

4002

Western Region

Class 117

Class 117. Western region set L461 with the Driving Motor Brake Second leading on the down main approaching Southall on a Saturday morning in June 1972.

D1200

Class 53 was composed of a single locomotive D1200 "Falcon" which was purchased after extensive tests on BR. It was a 2880 hp Brush development of the class 47. 1200 "Falcon" is seen on an up Paddington express passing Reading Diesel Depot in July 1971. 

Class 130

Class 130 DMU's were produced from Derby 116/2 by removing the seats and the trailer cars.  As the train recedes into the distance, we can now see it was hauling 4 parcels vans consisting of a BR designed bogie GUV (next to the motor units), a BR designed 4 wheeled CCT, an ex-GWR bogie Siphon and a SR designed 4 wheeled PMV.
