Class 1600 consists of 22 B-B locomotives. They were built by GEC-Alstom between 1981 & 1983. Overhead is powered at 1500 V d.c. and the locos are rated at 4400 kW, 5900 hp with a top speed of 160 km/h, 100 mph.
