Wiener Lokalbahn Photos
|This company operates trams between Wien Oper and Baden Josefsplatz. On a part of
its line (Inzersdorf-Traiskirchen) there is also freight traffic. In
addition the WLB operates open-access freight trains over the ÖBB
network. It was founded in 1888 when the streetcar line in southern
Vienna was transferred to them from the local tramway company. In 1899
that line was electrified and the steam trains were replaced. |
The WLB has 3 type V100 locomotives numbered 90-92. The locomotives were rebuilt with new Caterpillar diesels by Adtranz in 2001 from ex DR class 202s. They are rated at 1060 kW, 1421 hp with a top speed of 100 km/h, 62 mph. They are diesel-hydraulics.
WLB diesel 92 heads a work train near Meidling on Thursday April 29th, 2004. Photographed from the 16:00 Wien Süd to Sopron.
