|This company operates trams between Wien Oper and Baden Josefsplatz. On a part of
its line (Inzersdorf-Traiskirchen) there is also freight traffic. In
addition the WLB operates open-access freight trains over the ÖBB
network. It was founded in 1888 when the streetcar line in southern
Vienna was transferred to them from the local tramway company. In 1899
that line was electrified and the steam trains were replaced. |
The WLB has 10 leased Siemens dual voltage Taurus electrics (similar to the ÖBB 1116 class). These are rated at 6400 kW, 8579 hp with a top speed of 230 km/h, 142 mph. ES 64 U2-022 was built by Siemens, München in November 2002 (serial number 20772).
