The Graz-Köflacher Bahn und Busbetrieb GmbH (GKB) operates trains on a network to the west and southwest of Graz. The lines are Graz-Lieboch-Köflach and Lieboch-Wies/Eibiswald. They have their own station in Graz as well as using the Graz Hauptbahnhof.

VT 70.10 was built by SGP in Graz (serial number 78967) in 1985. It is rated at 470 kW, 630 hp and has a top speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph. The 2-car articulated set rides on 3 4-wheel trucks with both leading and trailing trucks having all axles powered in a Bo-2-Bo arrangement and seats 114 passengers
