Diesel D1 shunting passenger cars at Jenbach.

Metre Gauge ( 39 1/3 inches). Rack railway running from Jenbach (junction with the OBB & Zillertalbahn) to Seespitz on the Achensee.

D1 was built by Schöma in 1948 (builder's number 900) as a 950mm gauge 4-wheeled diesel powered by a 4 cylinder diesel motor(Mercedes Benz F 4 L 514) rated at 59 kW( 80 hp) for use on the Inselbahn Langeoog in Germany. It weighs 7500 Kg and has an overall length of 5 metres. Top speed is 20 km/h, 12 mph and is used for shunting coaching stock at Jenbach (AB) station. It was sold in 1995 to Hywema-Hebebuhnen in Solingen and used with a maintenance lifting platform to demonstrate loco servicing without a pit. Later in 1995 it was sold to the Achenseebahn where it is seen on Monday September 23rd, 2002. It is unclear from my research when this loco was converted to metre gauge. I am indebted to Mr. Bernhard Marchi of the Achenseebahn for supplying the technical data.
