The FAM is standard gauge and runs on the FS metals from Venezia S. Lucia to Mestre where a single track branches to the south and runs to Piove di Sacco & Adria.
The AD9xx series of railcars have diesel mechanical transmissions rated at 340 kW, 455 hp, have 63 2nd class seats and a maximum speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph. They were built in 1991.

Tuesday afternoon September 18^th, 2001 DMU AD909 leads trailer Bp376 into Venezia Mestre from Venezia S Lucia station. This is train #R5781 which departed S Lucia at 16:26 with arrival in Mestre at 16:36, it waits at Mestre until 17:26 when it becomes R5783 for its run to Adria.
