Hungarian Flag

V43 electrics were introduced from 1963. The V in the class number indicates Electric power and the 4 indicates 4 axles. They are rated at 2220 kW, 2976 hp and have a top speed of 120 km/h, 75 mph. They were built by Ganz in Budapest. The GySEV units were purchased from MÁV. Refurbished units fitted for push pull carry a special livery and are renumbered into the 2000 series.  (2000 series photos are here)
