MEG 77 (0-8-0 diesel) at Halberstadt works.

MEG or Mitteldeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH was founded in 1998 to take over the Dow Chemical railway operation. This company is the railway division of the Buna-Werke. They operate long-distance trains from Schkopau in the former GDR, and local freight on Köthen-Aken, from Halberstadt to Ströbeck/Oschersleben/Heudeber & Danstedt, and from Böhlen to Altenburg, Espenhain, Ammelshain, Seelingstädt and Trebsen

Unit 77 is an 0-8-0 diesel shunter originally built in 1979 by the LEW. It is a V60 type rated at 478 kW, 640 hp, but the MEG website at describes the loco as class 346. It is seen at the DB Halberstadt works on Saturday September 21st, 2002.
