GVG 109-3 at Berlin Lichtenberg Bahnhof.

Georg Verkehrsorganisation GmbH (GVG) operate a boat train service for Scanlines Shipping Company from Berlin to Malmö in conjunction with their train ferry from Sassnitz to Trelleborg using 2 ex DDR 1961 electrics. These locos ride on 2 4-wheel trucks and are rated at 2740 kW, 3675 hp with a top speed of 120 km/h, 75 mph.
This locomotive was built by LEW in November 1975 (serial 151054) as 211 073-2. In 1992 it became 109 073-7, was witdrawn in December 1993 and passed to the Basdorf Railway Museum, then through 3 other owners including ADtranz & Bombardier Lokpool (who numbered it 109-3) until finally in 2002 it was acquired by GVG.
