The DB acquired 238 units "Desiro" units from Siemens between
2000 & 2003. These are 2 car articulated units riding on 3 4-wheel
trucks with both axles of the central truck powered. Each unit is equipped
with a 275 kW diesel providing a total of 550kW, 735 hp and a top speed of
120 km/h, 75 mph. Passenger seating is 12 first class and 111 second class
and the toilet facilities are handicap accessible.
642 673-8 arrives "empty stock" at Dresden Neustadt station on
Thursday May 8th, 2003. Remnants of past times linger in the form of the
water crane and the mechanical signals. |
