The DB acquired 238 units "Desiro" units from Siemens between
2000 & 2003. These are 2 car articulated units riding on 3 4-wheel
trucks with both axles of the central truck powered. Each unit is equipped
with a 275 kW diesel providing a total of 550kW, 735 hp and a top speed of
120 km/h, 75 mph. Passenger seating is 12 first class and 111 second class
and the toilet facilities are handicap accessible. This car 642 535-9 was built by Siemens Düwag (serial number 92067)
and entered service in September 2000 and the other power car in the set
642 035-0 carries serial number 91067.
