The DB acquired 238 units "Desiro" units from Siemens between
2000 & 2003. These are 2 car articulated units riding on 3 4-wheel
trucks with both axles of the central truck powered. Each unit is equipped
with a 275 kW diesel providing a total of 550kW, 735 hp and a top speed of
120 km/h, 75 mph. Passenger seating is 12 first class and 111 second class
and the toilet facilities are handicap accessible.
642 160-6 has recently arrived with 642 144-0 at Leipzig Hauptbahnhof on Friday September 20th, 2002 and is going out of service. |
