Class 294 Bo-Bo shunters were re-built from class 290 between 1995 to 1997. They are rated at 809 kW, 1084 hp, they have hydraulic transmissions and a top speed of 80 km/h, 50 mph.
294 244-9 was built by MaK in January 1972 (serial number 1000552) as DB 290 244-3. In May 1997 it was modified and renumbered 294 244-9 and again in August 2003 (3 months after this photo) modified to become 294 744-8.
