139 558-1 at Linz, Austria

4950 hp / 3700 kW built from 1957. Bo-Bo trucks. 15,000 volts. 110 km/h, 70 mph. Designed for steeply graded lines, they were a development of the class 140 with revised braking.
This locomotive was built by Krauss-Maffei (works number 19072) in January 1965 as E40 1558 and in 1968 became 139 558-1.

DB 139 558-1 heads a westbound freight past Linz Hauptbahnhof in Austria on Wednesday September 25th, 2002.
