Class 770 are Co-Co diesel electrics rated at 993 kW, 1332 hp and have a top speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph. Over 8000 of these locomotives were built by ČKD and were exported to the Soviet Union and around the world. 111 were built for mainline use in Czechoslovakia from 1963 as well as 57 more for industrial service (39 by ČKD & 18 by SMZ in Slovakia).
ČKD Praha built industrial versions were originally numbered T669.0501 to 0539 and were built between 1977 & 1989. This locomotive was built in 1986 (serial number 14493) and numbered T669.0533.
