Class 742 are diesel electrics rated at 883 kW with a top speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph.  The class was introduced in 1978 and for freight and shunting duties although some are used for light passenger work.
This loco was built by ČKD (serial number 12187) in December 1982 as T466.2272 and was renumbered in 1988.

742 272-8 in the yards on the east side of the mainline approaching Ostrava main station from Brno on Saturday October 2nd, 2004.
