Class 742 are diesel electrics rated at 883 kW, 1184 hp with a top speed of
90 km/h, 56 mph. The class was
introduced in 1978 for freight and shunting duties although some are
used for light passenger work. An unidentified 742 at Ostrava-Svinov on Saturday October 2nd, 2004. There are no visible number plates and even the CD logo is missing from the left top corner of the long hood. The flush sided cab indicates an early build as the later locomotives have corrugations on the cab sides. |
