Czech Class 163, 263 & 363 Photos

Škoda built 3 versions of their standard mixed traffic electric. Class 163 is a 3000 volt DC version, 263 is the 25,000 volt AC version and 363 is a dual voltage version. Top speed on all versions is 120 km/h, 74 mph.  Locomotives were divided between Slovakia and the Czech Republic, probably based upon their depot allocation at the time and certainly without regard to their numbers.

• Class 163 were built from 1984. They are rated at 3480 kW, 4665 hp. More where created from re-bogied 162 locos.

• Class 263 had 2 locos built in 1984 with a further 10 in 1988. They are rated at 3060 kW, 4102 hp

• Class 363 had 2 locos built in 1980 with a further 173 built between 1984 & 1990. Rated at 3060 kW on AC and 3480 kW on DC. Some were fitted with bogies from 162 and were re-classed 362.
