There were originally 64 locomotives of type SD60F built by GMD in London between August 1985 and October 1989. They are fitted with the "draper Taper" full width carbodies. They are classified as GF-638a & GF-638b and are rated at 3800 hp, 2835 kW. They are geared to 70 mph but restricted to 65, 105 km/h.
