The Dash8-40CM is a 4000 hp, 2984 kW diesel electric riding on a pair of 3 axle trucks. They were built by General Electric in Erie Pennsylvania from February 1990 to December 1992. Although capable of 73 mph they are restricted to 65 mph, 105 km/h. They are fitted with the "Draper Taper" full width carbody and dynamic brakes.
