Class 701 Self-propelled Catenary Work Car

The class 701 motorized work car was developed from the rail buses. Between the driving compartments are the workshop and crew accommodation with work bench, shelves, seat and washing facility. On the roof a current collector is arranged for the grounding and examination of the railway catenary. The largest part of the roof has a hydraulically elevated and tiltable work platform with a load-carrying capacity of 300 kg. They are rated at 222 kW, 300 hp, both axles are powered and the top speed is 90 km/h, 55 mph.
This unit was built by Messerschmidt-Bölkow-Blohm (serial number 9019) in May 1974
