| ÖBB 1099 Electric Locomotive. These 6600 V electric locomotives were
designed for the Mariazellerbahn running south from St. Pölten in 1911.
The track gauge is 760 mm ( 30 inch) and are rated at 420kW, 563 hp with a
top speed of 50 km/h, 31 mph. The locomotives ride on 2 6 wheel trucks
fitted with side rods. This locomotive was built by Krauss in Linz (serial number 8093) in 1911 as number E3 of the NÖLB (Niederösterreichische Landesbahnen). The number was retained by the BBÖ (Bundesbahnen Österreich 1918-1938) and it was carried until the Deutschen Reichsbahn took over operation in 1938 when it became E99 03. In 1953 the ÖBB renumbered it to1099.03. In October 1960 it was modernized with a new body and electro-pneumatic controls. 1099 003-4 on Monday May 3rd, 2004 at the St Pölten Alpenbahnhof Traction Depot. |
