The ÖBB Class 1016 locomotives were built by Siemens Krauss-Maffei Lokomotiven Gmbh in München, a subsidiary of  Siemens to operate on the DB & ÖBB systems at 15,000 V ac. There were a total of 50 built. They ride on Bo-Bo trucks, the locos are rated at 6400 kW, 8580 hp, weigh 86 metric tonnes and have a top speed of 230 km/h, 143 mph. 1016 022-4 carries works number 20370 and entered service in January 2001.
