Amtrak commenced business in 1971 operating passenger trains over numerous
privately owned railroads in the USA. Photos taken in Ontario are ViaRail
services operated by Canadian crews using Amtrak equipment which run
between Toronto and New York City on a daily basis.
The B40-8P is also referred to as a P40DC locomotive. Both are fitted with HEP generators for train supply. The P40 is rated at 4000 hp, 2984 kW and the 3200 hp P32AC-DM is fitted with AC traction motors and can run as a 3rd electric in the tunnels around New York City. |
