A 2-car unit comes off of the New Canaan branch into the joint station at Stamford, CT station in August, 1978.

In 1978 this service was run by Conrail on behalf of the MTA & Connecticut DOT on what was a mainline of the old New Haven & Hartford Railroad. In 1983 MTA formed these services into The Metro-North Railroad.
