A comparison in locomotive noses between 1951 built E8A #823 and 1967 built SD45 #3613 at Hornell, NY on  September 23^rd, 1973 . The photo was taken while returning from a NMRA Regional convention.

#823 rides on A1A-A1A ( middle axles not driven) trucks with 2250 hp while #3613 runs on C-C (All axles powered) and boasted 3600 hp. #3613 was scrapped in 1987 after 20 years of service, whereas #823 was 22 years old when this photo was taken.
