SDP45 were originally designed for passenger working with a longer frame
but the EL obtained them for their larger fuel tanks which allowed runs from
New York to Chicago on freight trains without refueling. 3659 double-headed with another SDP45 on an westbound freight through Hornell, NY on Sunday evening, September 23rd, 1973 . The photo was taken while returning from a NMRA NFR Regional convention in Ithaca, NY. |
