3000 hp on 4 wheel trucks. GP40-2 were developments of the GP40. 

In the then new Chessie System livery B&O 4237 (right) is seen outside the railway facilities at East Salamanca, NY in 1976.  To it's left in the old B&O livery is GP30 #6915 and another Chessie B&O GP40-2 4185.

The Chessie System later became part of the CSX System.
