GEXR 3835 at Kitchener

The Goderich & Exeter Railway took over the CN operations in the Goderich area in April 1992 as part of RailTex and was then absorbed into RailAmerica. Headquarters of the G&E are in Goderich. 

3835 is an EMD GP38AC built in March 1971 (serial number 36082). It started life as GM&O 724, then ICG 9543 followed by IC 9543. It was sold to Helm Financial as HLCX 3677, then re-sold in February 1995 to New England Central as NECR 9543. It was acquired by the Goderich-Exeter Railway later in 1995 and numbered GEXR 9543 until June 1998 when it was renumbered to GEXR 3835.
