912 is an EMD SD45-2 (3600 hp, 2686 kW) riding on C-C trucks. It was built in November 1972 (serial number 7382-1) as Clinchfield 3607, then Conrail 8968, and CSXT 8968 following the sale of Conrail. CSXT sold the locomotive to Helm Financial who renumbered it as HATX 912 and then leased it to RailAmerica for use on the CB&CNS.

912 was the lead locomotive in a 3-unit eastbound freight departing from the yard in Truro, Nova Scotia on Sunday August 29th, 2004.
