Ontario Rail owned 2 ex-CPR steam locomotives in the 1970s a 4-4-0 #136 and  D10 class 4-6-0 numbered 1057. Engine 136 had been modernized by the CPR with a steel cab but it reverted to a wooden cab to star in the CBC television series "The National Dream" about the construction of the Canadian Pacific transcontinental railway.

In September 1973 these locomotives ran a doubleheaded steam excursion from Toronto through Streetsville to the Forks of the Credit. This time the train ran over the rails of the CPR.
