An unidentified ALe426 motor unit

ALe426.025 motor unit with ALe506.025 at the rear of a 4-car train arriving at the high numbered platforms at Venezia S Lucia on Monday late afternoon on September 17^th, 2001.These platforms have no canopies and are very narrow.

ALe426 units have 84 seats, whereas ALe506 have 98 or 100 (depending on the webpage with specifications on them). Both classes are outwardly identical. I then noticed the "handicapped/disabled/mobility challenged" sign on this unit. If 4 seating bays (16 seats) are used for wheelchairs then that would account for seating difference. This unit has a sign as does the 724 class trailer next to it.
Italian emu/dmu unit numbers used to include seating capacity in the class number. Again assuming a "Half Factor", 84 seats in a ALe426 and 100 in a ALe506 would indicate a logical reason for these class designations. See class ALe506.
