Berlin S-Bahn Photos, class 485.

The S-Bahn in Berlin is electrified at 800 volts DC using third rail. It is an independent company within the DBAG group. Class 485 were designed by the DDR as class 270 and were built by LEW Hennigsdorf from 1987 to 1992. Both bogies of the driving motors are powered and the trailers are unpowered and are class 885. Rated t 480 kW, 643 hp, they have a top speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph.
