Rhätische Bahn is a metre gauge railway network in southeastern
Switzerland running from junctions with the SBB at Landquart and Chur to
St. Moritz and Davos. This part of their system is electrified at 11,000
volts. Locomotive 627 is a Ge4/4 II introduced from 1973. It rides on 2 4-wheel trucks (4 powered axles, hence 4/4) with a power rating of 1700 kW, 2280 hp and a top speed of 90 km/h, 56 mph.. 627 "Reicheau/Tamins" (centre) has just arrived at Landquart with train D40 (12:15 Chur-Davos Platz) on Friday May 16th, 2003. Ge4/4 III 650 is a light engine on the left while Ge4/4 II 630 "Trun" waits with a local train to the north. |
