Rhätische Bahn is a metre gauge railway network in southeastern Switzerland running from junctions with the SBB at Landquart and Chur to St. Moritz and Davos. This part of their system is electrified at 11,000 volts.

Locomotives in the 601-610 series are Ge4/4 I types introduced from 1947. They ride on 2 4-wheel trucks (4 powered axles, hence 4/4) with a power rating of 1180 kW, 1582 hp and a top speed of 80 km/h, 50 mph...

Untervaz station on Friday May 16th, 2003 has Ge4/4 I locomotives 608 & 609 on a southbound freight waiting in the loop as Be4/4 514 departs with northbound train R844. Out of view 605 & 604 wait in the northbound loop with another freight. Photographed from train R845.
