La Torre del Mangia

A more conventional photo of the Torre del Mangia, (the bell tower of Il Campo) as seen from Il Campo. The tower has over 500 steps in a steep and narrow circular staircase leading to viewing platforms just below the bell. 

The large building to the right is the Palazzo Pubblico which is the city hall as well as being an art gallery and a museum. Tourist stalls surround Il Campo which forms the racetrack for the twice annual Palio horse race.
