Herrenchiemsee is King Ludwig II's magnificent island palace located in the Chiemsee in southern Bavaria. It was inspired by the Palace of Versailles and its construction led to Ludwig's bankruptcy. It is not possible to take photographs inside the palace so I would highly recommend a visit and a tour. Photos taken on Sunday May 19th, 2002.
