 War Memorial 1917-1918

Bassano del Grappa is located on the Brenta River near Mt. Grappa, site of heavy fighting in World War 1 between Nov 1917 and October 1918 against the army of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 

The war memorial stands in the centre of Piazzale Gen. Giardino and looks north towards Monte Grappa. Bassano was part of Austria at various times until 1866 and was thus on the front lines during the First World War.
