CPR GP-9 Photos
The GP9 was introduced in 1954 as an improved version of the 1949 GP7s
with more horsepower and improved reliability. Originally built with high
short hoods and intended for operation with the long hood leading, they
were modified between 1975 & 1987 with chop noses and configured to run
short hood forward.
There were 206 active CP GP9s in February 2005. They are rated at 1750 hp, 1305 kW and ride on Bo-Bo trucks.
