CP Rail 5788 was built by GMD (serial number A3534) in March 1976. It is a C-C diesel electric of type SD40-2 rated at 3000 hp, 2238 kW.

5788 was the 4th locomotive in CP train 255 passing Bayview on Saturday October 7th, 2006.
