CNR's SD40 6-axle freight locomotives first entered service in September
1967 (5000) and the last SD40-2(W) was delivered in December 1980 (5363).
They were built at the GMD locomotive factory in London, Ontario with the
exception of 5364 to 5387 built by EMD originally for the MoPac. They are rated at 3000 hp, 2238 kW with a top speed of 65 mph, 105 km/h. |
