Canadian National FP9 #6536

FP9s were a lengthened version of the F9 loco with steam heat equipment. They rode on 4 wheel trucks and were rated at 1750 hp. #6536 was built in May 1958, was one of the first two CNR locos to be painted in the red/black/white livery in 1961. It was transferred to VIA Rail in March 1978 and scrapped in May 1994.

In April 1972, the Kiwanis of Kitchener ran a special passenger train to Elmira for the Maple Syrup Festival. It was headed by FP9A 6536 with a MLW FPA-4 on the other end. As I recall this train shuttled between Elmira and Kitchener about 3 or 4 times during the day.
