2406 is a GE Dash 8-40CM rated at 4000 hp, 2984 kW and rides on 6 wheel trucks. It was built in either February or March 1990 (serial number 46168).

CNR 2406 darkens the skies along with SD40-2 CN 5291 as lease power GCFX 6077 (scheduled to become WC 6947) head train 422 (Niagara Falls to Toronto) onto the Halton sub at Burlington West on Monday April 4th, 2005.
