September 1973, MLW M636 #2323
with another M636 heads this westbound freight up the hill and past the
Canada Crushed Stone Company facility near the Dundas depot. Of interest
in the consists are, the first car which is an unshielded bi-level auto
rack and flat cars loaded with automobile/light truck frames. This Canadian National M636 was built by the Montreal Locomotive works to an Alco design in 1971. As the model number suggests, it was powered by a 3600 hp. prime mover and rode on a pair of 6 wheel trucks. 2323 was temporarily withdrawn twice in 1996 before it was permanently withdrawn in January 1997 and scrapped later in the year. |
